I heard today there is talk of a Warriors remake. Remember that old gang movie from the 1970s when apparently, in order to be a juvenile delinquent, you needed make-up, a costume and apparently enough money to handle the wardrobe. I remember the baseball guys who had make-up, bats and uniforms. That was amazing. Then you had some other gangs, who had club houses, cars and again, plenty of make-up.
I am torn. That movie from 1979 was so classic that any remake is going to suck. Be honest. Did you like Escape from LA as much as Escape from New York. I didn’t think so. From what I hear, the only thing that will be the same is the basic premise. It’s going to take place in LA, not New York. No Warriors gang or Cleon or Swan or Baseball Furies. Probably more real and involving the Bloods, Crips and Latin gangs. Think Colors from the mid-80s but more modern, graphic and cutting edge. or something like that.
But it would be cool. And as long as they have the sing-song line “Warriors, come out to play…” I’ll be at least intrigued.

I hate re-makes. All that money in Hollywood and no one can come up with an original idea?
Yeah, I know and you could never capture the cheese of that movie in a modern version. I mean, look at war movies. Like it or not, they are so realistic now that it’s almost no fun to watch them. I guess that’s a good thing as war shouldn’t be glamorized but on the other hand, I don’t feel to get the sweats and be on the edge of my seat for a simple movie.
