What is wrong with our society. A Colorado family thought it was a good idea to fake the possible death of their six-year-old son. What the hell? A CNN anchor last night asked the question I have been thinking for a few days. “who in their right mind would go on national TV while their son was possible dead or facing death?” What idiots. I am sure they were in their right mind when they hatched this plan.
But remember, this was also the family who was on Wife Swap and named their kid after a Bird of Prey. I don’t know if charges are the most viable option? But someone should pay for the costs of the search. I frankly, am appalled at this family. I’ll write more later but the girl wants “eatsies.” Really.

For too many people, success, notoriety, and infamy a measure of one’s worth. There’s just no value in being average, normal and boring.

I disagree. The heroes of our culture should be the everyman.. the people who no one knows or really cares about. Yet without them, society wouldn’t function. Sort of a “Dirty Jobs” show in Discovery.

Purely based on the heading, I think what is wrong with our society, in general, is that we allow the media to sensationalize these events which then encourages the continued cycle of weirdos seeking fame. Instead of letters, calls and emails to the networks about their gossip stories, people should be telling them to knock this stuff off. Not to say that would eliminate the true weirdos, but it might keep the kids from ending up on national TV to be ridiculed by everyone. But it seems we all want to see the train wreck.

The media didn’t sensationalize this. The family did. If things are true, and that’s a big if, then it was the family who put the nation through this. What if it was real? Should the press just ignore something.
Face it, it’s only news because people like us want to watch it. After all, we are talking about this and not the public option in the health care plan
